On Friday of last week Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty released a new call for internet freedom. Titled “The Technology Revolution: A Campaign for Liberty Manifesto”, the new document advocates concerted action challenging “net neutrality” and other legislation designed to transform internet service providers (ISPs) into regulated utilities. The Campaign for Liberty’s officialwebsite presents “The Technology Revolution” as an effort to ensure that property rights are consistently applied to ISPs. Organization Vice President Matt Hawes describes the new manifesto as a counterpoint to recent efforts to increase internet regulation over the past year.
The Campaign for Liberty was established in 2008 as an outgrowth of Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidential campaign. The organization’s charter calls for the Campaign for Liberty to advocate for “individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity”. Campaign for Liberty leadership includes a number of former employees of Ron Paul’s congressional office and campaign staff.
