Piers Morgan: “Second Amendment was clumsily written, it’s time for a debate to rephrase it”

Despite rumors CNN will drop Piers, he continues to pretend he holds some significance in the debate on gun control. He’s already lost so many live debates:

From Red Alert Politics:

CNN host Piers Morgan is well known for his outspoken anti-gun stance and is hardly a supporter of the Second Amendment. But Morgan took a shot at the Founding Fathers on Friday, saying the Second Amendment was “clumsily written” and calling for a debate to rephrase it.

Morgan spoke to an audience at the National Press Club and discussed his new book, “Shooting Straight: Guns, Gays, God and George Clooney.” The CNN host has gained notoriety for calling for more gun control, especially since the shootings in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn., and Morgan didn’t disappoint, addressing what he says is the evolution Second Amendment and the Constitution.

“That to me shows you how clumsily worded, and I say that with great respect for the Founding Fathers, that Second Amendment was,” he said. “The comma in the middle is perhaps the most dangerous comma ever written because it can be interpreted in different ways.”

The comma Morgan references creates the clause: “being necessary to the security of a free State.”

He pointed the evolution of the Second Amendment, saying when written by the Founding Fathers, it meant not the right to bear arms “in their own lives,” but to bear arms as part of a well-regulated militia. But, as the NRA rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s — when “very right-wing people took over” — and President Ronald Reagan took office, the Second Amendment was redefined.

“They redefined it as an individual’s right to bear arms, no longer as part of a well-regulated militia,” Morgan said.

Not a chance. You’re not even from this country. How DARE you tell US that OUR Constitution was clumsily written? Why is it written clumsily? Because it doesn’t fall in line with your anti-gun rants? Because you belong to that non-cognitive capable group that thinks FEELING safe equates to BEING safe? Let me say this clearly. If you don’t like OUR Constitution, then take YOUR keister BACK to YOUR country! The one you CAME from!

It has been repeatedly been proven that where the populace has been disarmed, or gun-free zones have been created, both the level of crime itself dramatically increased, and the violent crime rates as well. In ALL areas of the country where gun control has NOT been able to get a foothold, the same aforementioned crime rates have dropped. Criminals don’t respect the laws. They break them, thus why they are called CRIMINALS! What these laws do is disarm the population making them susceptible to the violent behaviors of NON law-abiding citizens, called CRIMINALS! Gun control ENDANGERS lives, not save them.

Since you feel the need to side with criminals in endangering OUR lives by removing the only defense we have against them, then perhaps you need to remove yourself from our country and go back to your’s. You can point to police as being the proper responders if you so choose. However, you’ve obviously never been the victim OF a violent crime, OR had to deal with response times that measure in minutes. Armed response by citizens is measured in seconds! The difference BETWEEN life and death is SECONDS! Don’t point at AR15s or AK47s either.

The ENTIRE PURPOSE of the 2nd Amendment is to ENSURE the government can not abuse and control its people through fear of arms. Its ENTIRE PURPOSE is to ensure that, should the government rise up against its people, the people can rise up against IT! That’s it! It has absolutely NOTHING to do with hunting, sport shooting, or even ‘popping off a few rounds’. Its entire purpose is to ensure an armed population as a check and balance against bad government seeking to use force of arms against its citizenry. The reason it hasn’t happened is BECAUSE the population is so well armed! We DO live in a day and age where governments go rogue against its people! Almost on a daily basis! Or have you forgotten Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, Somolia, and others? Of course you have, because its not a case example for YOUR position. Oh, you do realize you GET to have that position BECAUSE OUR CONSTITUTION ALLOWS IT, right? That is our 1st Amendment in action. How do you guard against removal of the right to speak your mind, without being killed for it? That’s right, you guessed it! THE 2ND AMENDMENT! An armed populace!

    BTW:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Notice the first comma attaches “being necessary to the security of a free State” to militia (thus granting the States the right to have their own state level militaries, then called Militias). The 2nd comma extends the right to the PEOPLE (the general populace) to also keep and bear arms. This is EXACTLY in line with the Founding Fathers’ ideas, as shown through NUMEROUS codifications in their writings. One has only to read The Federalist Papers (and the Anti Federalist Papers which were written by members that didn’t think a Federalized Republic was the way to go) to know this. Bet you never read ANY of them, have you? There is no way you could take the stance that the commas are misinterpreted, if you had read them. This proves you out to be a motor mouth. Someone with a position, garnered from the air, with no real backing or self education to concrete their position. Thank you for proving yourself as such. That means We The People can safely ignore you as uneducated. Thank you!

Morgan was supposed to deport himself if no new gun control laws were passed. Why is he still here. So he can continue to look like the idiot he is. “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” There is nothing to debate. Clumsily written? Wrong as usual Morgan. No place in the Constitution are the words chosen more carefully. A militia is necessary but that militia being controlled by the government can pose a threat to the freedom all Americans can proudly claim as their birthright, Therefore to mitigate that threat the individual, the smallest minority, maintains the right to keep and bear arms against that potential threat. So Mr. Morgan please take your sorry, pathetic ass back to merry old England. Our founding fathers who you dare to insult didn’t accept the dictates of King George the Third. We’re not about to be influenced by you.
