One of the most ridiculous things in the world is government insurance. The government has no expertise in providing goods and services and has a long history of being more detrimental to markets than benefitting them in any way.
This couldn’t be more true for flood insurance. Surely, the people who advocate for it have their hearts in the right place, advocating for us plebs, right?
Well, not Senator John Neely Kennedy.
Kennedy believes eliminating government-run flood insurance is being mean to rich people. He believes the government should provide insurance for a rich person’s second home in some hurricane-prone areas on the coast.
Kennedy attempts to present removal or reduction in flood insurance as a punishment for successful people.
This could not be further from the truth.
If regular insurance won’t fund your home that sits under ocean level, why should the average American taxpayer?
Kennedy is standing up for his wealthy donors, and no one else.
