This was just prior to the commie-inspired ObamaCare vote. A great many "Muricans saw through the word maze he created and realized a front-runner in the Anti-Christ competition was now "our" leader.

I suspect leftists in the US & elsewhere literally see themselves as not subject to laws in the same way that conservatives are. They after all in their eyes are the protectors of democratic processes, who espouse diversity of race & genders & religion, equity among same, and seek to include everyone. They see no contradiction that imposing this by fiat creates a profoundly unfree society. They also believe equal opportunity is empty if it results in an unequal society. So they're literal core Marxists - that the state must impose social justice. All of this and other such polemics, convinces them that of course they must not be subject to the legal constraints intended to constrain those temperamentally predisposed to fascist tyranny. They do believe this. It's necessary for them to be free to do battle unhindered with the dark forces of capital & control.
