People have been saying this since FDR (or even Wilson or before). Nothing will happen unless there is a groundswell of support and we won’t get it without a way to expose the true size of the federal government: as in 2020, Trump needs to end withholding taxes by EO (or Congress by legislation).

When is Rand going to put forth his proposed cuts and quit just talking?

I want to see numbers. Force Congress to vote on a budget with no overruns which they will most assuredly reject. The public needs to see what it’s going to take to make it balanced.

No one will like it, but reality sucks sometimes.

That's exactly what he's been doing with his rescission packages.

This was all Rand's idea. The rest of Congress should listen.

I understand that there have been proposals to force the budget to balance

I want a proposal with specific cuts and the ramifications to every department.

People, especially Democrat voters, need to know that Nations and Empires never last forever, actually the time limit usually is 250 years. If we don't reform drastically, we will no longer have a Nation left.

Old Nations, like 5000+ year old China, survived by having dramatic changes with "revolutions", "regime changes", massive reforms.

We need this bill to pass. If it doesn't I have no confidence that anything will ever change not just this presidency , but for years to come. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

While I understand his point, but coming up with nothing is not acceptable.

Fighting for Liberty and Freedom is a noble cry, but if nothing is accomplished, it's all for naught.

It seems I’ve read this message before, word for word. Perhaps it was intended though, so that hopefully everyone will eventually read it.

Start with the military not the poor and disabled on housing assistance or Medicaid. Giving billionaires while cutting taxes for billionaires is the height of obscenity. Growing poverty and homelessness in the U.S. is on your head and other politicians who favor austerity neoliberalism.

It’s on the heads of those who voted for NAFTA, and on the unions who pushed them there with ridiculous work demands.

Simply demanding to be treated like a human being is a ‘ridiculous demand’ by unions as far as the business and corporate classes are concerned. It seems many Republicans and Libertarian types love low wages and dead end jobs.

I loved working with skilled union people, and happy to pay their rates but couldn’t deal with the production restrictions

The unions were and are way past being treated like. Human.

When roofers refuse to work in good weather on Monday because if they show up on a rainy Tuesday and can’t work, then they get paid for the rest of the week even if it rains and they can’t work, it’s gone too far. I had union workers apologize to me because they couldn’t work like they wanted.

Wages weren’t the issue.

We need one big union like the old Wobblies proposed with the ability to mount General Strikes. Taft-Hartley needs to be rescinded too.

Yeah, you sound petty bourgeois. Maybe you’d have preferred Mexicans making $10 an hour or something. People who generally whine about unions and not saying anything about chambers of commerce and business lobbies pressuring politicians to keep wages low, at-will employment policies with no rights for workers, stingy to nonexistent benefits, and zero job security, are rather suspect by nature.

You aren’t reading what I said

Wages are not the issue

The unions killed themselves with stupid work rules, not wage demands.

Kristoffer O’Shaugnessy's avatar

No, unions didn’t kill themselves though will concede many unions were and are thoroughly corrupt. The crowd around Thatcher and Reagan deliberately sought to kill unions while destroying all productive industry through free trade deals and outsourcing which has inflicted devastating economic and social consequences in Britain and America.

This plea from the author, be it Rand Paul or someone writing on his behalf, is at its root, hypocritical. “We must implement DOGE cuts immediately! Oh, and I need you to kick in more money upgrading your subscription so I, the author, can remain relevant and deliver a better product. 🤣🤣🤣 Screaming for more cuts on the one hand and crying over lack of funding on the other. True government hypocrisy on display. How about Senator Paul and whoever is backing this site do what they say is important - cutting budgets, taxes, etc - before pleading for more money. This is ridiculous.
