For liberty to expand, government must shrink. For the economy to grow, government must get out of the way. - Rand Paul

A Principled Conservative

Rand Paul is the conservative America needs. There’s no arguing we’ve strayed from our roots of individual freedom.

Rand Paul is one of the last true conservatives still standing and fighting.

Our fight is for individual liberty at the expense of the state.

When Americans exercise maximal liberty, the state shrinks.

This truth is ironic as radical leftists claim the state withers away after socialism reigns. Instead of taxing our way to collective destitution, we’re better off exchanging labor for compensation in the free market.

As Paul points out, politics and life are not about fairness; they are about growth, functionality and sustainability.

A Libertarian Populist

Fair-minded people are fond of stating those who offend both sides of the political aisle are good for the collective. Precious few politicians are willing to admit the left and the right are deeply flawed.

Rand Paul is one of those mavericks.

The beltway’s leading libertarian has allies in all political parties simply because he champions individual liberty.

While other refuse to cross the political aisle for the greater good, Paul sides with Americans who love liberty.

Here’s what matters: as long as you want to maximize individual liberty, you have a fierce vanguard in Rand Paul.

Compromise Without Partisanship

It is sometimes said that making concessions to reach a consensus is a necessary compromise. Such is the spirit of utilitarianism.

Paul favors compromise that crosses party lines to benefit the greater good. However, those compromises cannot come at the expense of individual liberty.

As an example, Paul is the proud holder of a medical degree yet he is unwilling to socialize healthcare. Paul’s argument is that state-sponsored healthcare essentially enslaves doctors.

There’s no sense legally mandating healthcare when those providing the care aren’t guaranteed fair pay or any pay at all.

“As a Libertarian I can talk with the far left about war, drug policy … not about guns and taxes.” — Rand Paul

Though Paul leans to the right, he finds common ground with independents and even some leftists on a handful of issues.

Aside from criticizing the military industrial complex, the constitutional conservative also sides with liberals on relaxing drug offense criminalization.

When in Doubt, Privatize It

Paul is famous for his staunch opposition to government interference in nearly every form.

Here’s Paul’s mantra: when in doubt, maximize individual freedom and see what happens.

Such an approach is a brave experiment worthy of reverence. There’s no sense letting the state tread on private citizens when most problems can be solved with market dynamics.

“Private enterprise will take care of [providing broadband in rural areas.] I think we should really self-examine what government is.” – Rand Paul

Cutting entitlement spending isn’t enough. Paul agrees the Warhawks on the right are also in the wrong.

Instead of fighting endless wars and doling out freebies, the government should focus on safeguarding individuals’ freedoms.

America’s Little Brother

Paul worked his way to the top. While studying at Baylor University, Paul headed a local chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas. He also volunteered for political campaigns while earning his undergraduate degree.

Paul went on to attend Duke University where he earned his medical degree. After working as an ophthalmologist for nearly 20 years, Paul ran for Senate.

He won and hasn’t stopped fighting for individual liberty since.

“There is no world in which there is no inequality. It would be so tightly controlled you wouldn’t want to live in it.” – Rand Paul on small government

Paul isn’t afraid to admit economic disparity is a fact of life. Those who work hard tend to emerge as steadily employed and homeowners.

The prevailing theme of Paul’s career and life is that little brother is more important than Big Brother. The prioritization of individual liberty really is more important than temporary social safety nets that will inevitably fail.

Though every government eventually runs out of money, individuals do not. That’s precisely why libertarians like Rand Paul prefer a nation of nearly 400 million little brothers instead of one domineering Big Brother.

Stand With Rand Paul and all Libertarians

America is on the brink of becoming what Paul describes as an empire of lies. We are obligated to stand in solidarity.

Our mission is simple and clear: defend individual liberty.
